A press release issued yesterday states that PDF terrorists and their affiliates have detonated explosives on the Ayeyarwady Bridge (Yadana Thein Kha), which connects Kyaukmyaung in the Mandalay Region to Kyaukmyaung in the Sagaing Region.
These terrorists are engaging in illegal activities by placing explosives on roads and bridges that are used by the public, aiming to disrupt the peace and stability of the country as well as the flow of goods in the region. It has been confirmed that yesterday the Ayeyarwady Bridge (Yadana Thein Kha), located on the Shwebo-Kyaukmyaung-Singu-Mandalay road, was detonated by these individuals.
The bridge connecting Singu Township in the Thabeikkyin District of the Mandalay Region to Kyauk Myaung Township in the Shwebo District of the Sagaing Region serves as a key route for public transportation and the movement of goods. Unfortunately, it was destroyed by the People’s Defense Force (PDF) and their affiliates around 6:10 a.m. on October 29.
The explosion caused significant damage to the bridge’s mid-water piers, specifically between piers RP4 and RP5, as well as the RP6-A2 approach road.
As a result of these reckless actions by the terrorists, both vehicles and tourists are now unable to cross the bridge, halting the flow of goods completely.
The Ayeyarwady Bridge (Yadana Theing Kha) is a steel-reinforced concrete bridge that spans 2,480 feet in length and is 25 feet wide, with an additional 3-foot-wide walkway on each side. The construction team began the project on April 16, 2010, and completed it on July 24, 2013.
