At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing will pay a state visit to China from June 15 to 19, according to an announcement by a spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported by Xinhua News Agency on Friday.
During a recent visit to Myanmar, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi conveyed President Xi Jinping’s congratulations to U Min Aung Hlaing on his election as President of Myanmar on April 10. Wang Yi stated that China highly values its relations with Myanmar and had sent a congratulatory message shortly after the election, as well as a delegation to attend the inauguration ceremony.
He also expressed confidence that Myanmar would continue its development and strengthen bilateral cooperation under the leadership of President U Min Aung Hlaing.
Furthermore, following President U Min Aung Hlaing’s visit to India from May 30 to June 3, Myanmar Foreign Minister U Tin Maung Swe paid an official visit to China from June 4 to June 6 at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. After these developments, an official invitation from Chinese President Xi Jinping to Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing for a visit to China has now emerged.
The upcoming trip will mark President U Min Aung Hlaing’s first state visit to China since assuming the presidency and is expected to further strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries.
