2 July 2026
In accordance with the 2008 Constitution of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, which stipulates that every citizen is responsible for military education and military service for the defense of the country in accordance with the law, the People’s Military Service Law No. (3/2024) has been actively implemented. Many citizens voluntarily registered under the law, faithfully fulfilled their national defense duties, contributed to peace and stability, and successfully completed their required period of military service.
To recognize their service, ceremonies were held on 1 July at regional military headquarters across the country to award the People’s Military Service Medal and Certificates of Completion to members of the People’s Military Service who had satisfactorily fulfilled their duties.
The ceremonies were attended by the Chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council, Chief Ministers of the respective regions and states, senior officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), regional commanders, officials from the respective regional military headquarters, members of the People’s Military Service who had completed their service, and their family members.
Throughout their period of service, the State and the Tatmadaw provided People’s Military Service members with the salaries, allowances, rations, welfare, and other benefits to which they were entitled. The State and the Tatmadaw also continue to recognize and honor the dedication and sacrifices of citizens who have served the nation with courage and commitment in safeguarding the country’s sovereignty, peace, and stability.
