The Ministry of Home Affairs reported that a man working in a field was shot dead by three members of the People’s Defense Forces (PDF) in Taungdwinyi Township, who accused him of being a Dalan.
The incident occurred at 7 a.m. on May 16, 2026. U Maung Win, also known as Khin Maung Win (54), a resident of Pyin Chaung Village in Taungdwinyi Township, Magway Region, was working in a field near Patlalgyi Village when the three PDFs approached him and shot him dead. He died from gunshot wounds.
According to the latest reports, from February 1, 2021, when the Spring Revolution began, until December 26 of the previous year, the National Unity Government (NUG), PDF, and Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs) conducted violent killings on the grounds that the victims were Dalan, spies, members of Pyu Saw Htee, or those associated with the State Administration Council (SAC). This violence has resulted in the deaths of innocent civilians, including monks, children, and administrative officials, with a total of 9,908 government employees reported killed and 13,011 injured.
