The Union Election Commission (UEC) announced yesterday that elections will not take place in 161 wards and 2,770 village tracts during the 2025 Multi-Party Democratic General Elections (Parts 1 and 2).
On August 20, the UEC released Announcement No. (56/2025), which included a list of 102 townships participating in Part 1 of the elections, scheduled for December 28, 2025. Additionally, on October 28, the UEC provided Announcement No. (141/2025), detailing the 100 townships included in Part 2 of the elections.
Furthermore, on September 14, the UEC issued Announcement No. (103/2025), which listed 121 constituencies and 56 townships deemed unable to conduct free and fair elections.
The Union Election Commission (UEC) has conducted a further review of the wards and village tracts that are unable to hold free and fair elections. They have announced that a total of 161 wards and 2,770 village tracts will not be able to participate in the upcoming elections. Specifically, this includes 133 wards and 1,306 village tracts designated for the elections in Part (1) and 28 wards and 1,464 village tracts for the elections in Part (2).
In both Part (1) and Part (2) of the multi-party democratic general election, only the wards and village tracts in the Union Territory of Nay Pyi Taw and the Yangon Region will be able to hold elections. A comprehensive list of the wards and village tracts in other regions and states where elections will not take place is provided in the attached table.
