The Yadanarbon Cyber City, which was put on hold during the previous government, will be reinstated, announced Acting President and Chairman of the SSPC, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, during his visit to the Yadanarbon New City Project today.
The Yadanarbon Cyber City was designed to be a Silicon Village aimed at advancing the country’s communication technologies. However, during the Second Democratic Government (2015-2020), the project was altered to become the New Mandalay Resort City, leading to a halt in work on the Yadanarbon Cyber City, according to the Acting President.
Today, we are in the era of information technology, and it is essential to foster technological development in our country. In addition to the original goals of the previous Cyber City initiative, we must also focus on advancing artificial intelligence (AI) technology. The Acting President stated that this project is designed to enhance the country’s IT capabilities and primarily produce electronic products.
The project will be located near the University of Technology, specifically in Yadanapon Cyber City. It will be connected to technology and computer science universities in Mandalay, Meiktila, and Kyaukse, ensuring that the necessary human resources are available.
The acting president announced plans to resume and develop the Yadanarpon Cyber City project. They aim to attract both domestic and foreign investors interested in this initiative and will ensure that necessary land is available for those who are committed to moving the project forward.
