The Tansaungdaing Festival, one of the most important festivals of Hlegu, will be held for (12) days starting today (October 27). This year’s festival is the (77th) edition.
It is said that the festival traditionally involves carrying “the Twenty-Eight Buddhas” from the Ngar Dat Kyi pagoda in Hlegu to each neighborhood and then taking them around the area.
“This year, I heard that they will be carrying them around the neighborhood like before the COVID-19 pandemic. In previous years, all “the Twenty-Eight Buddhas” had to be carried in one car,” said a local resident.
The Tansaungdaing Festival will also include fun activities, dances, traditional food, and markets.
