The SAC’s Information Team has reported that members of the PDF have kidnapped and killed a middle school teacher and her husband from Wat Chote Village, Natmauk Township, in the Magway Region.
PDF groups are terrorizing educational offices and schools with landmines, grenades, improvised explosive devices, and small arms, threatening and killing teachers who educate young people. On the morning of June 1, Daw Than Nyunt, 61, and her husband U Thaung Khin, 59, a middle school teacher at Wet Chhay Basic Education High School (branch) in Wet Chote Village, Natmauk Township, were at home when armed individuals arrived. They threatened Daw Than Nyunt, declaring that she would be labeled a participant in the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) and warned her to stop accepting students.
Despite their insistence that they were fulfilling their duties as civil servants for the benefit of their students, the armed groups did not support their stance and forcibly took them to a location about two miles west of the village, where they were shot to death in a brutal manner.
It has been reported that between February 1, 2021, and June 1, 2025, a total of 79 education workers were killed and 35 injured as a result of violent attacks carried out by terrorist organizations, including the PDF.
The public has unequivocally condemned these threats, the unjust arrests, and the killings of civil servants and teachers by the PDF and related terrorist groups. In response to this violence, security forces are increasing measures to ensure appropriate actions are taken.
