The People’s Defense Forces (PDFs) and armed terrorist insurgents affiliated with the National Unity Government (NUG) and the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) have been committing various acts of violence against government employees, innocent civilians who oppose them, and administrative officials in several regions and states. Their actions, carried out under different pretexts, aim to spread fear among the public.
Recently, in Nyaung U Township, Bagan MyoThit, Gangga Ward, seven people were killed by the PDFs. They opened fire on village administrators and village elders who were gathered for a meeting to organize a Mahapathan ceremony.
On the evening of June 1, an incident occurred in which approximately 15 members of the People’s Defense Forces (PDFs), armed with small firearms, opened fire on villagers in Dhammarum, located in Gangga Ward of Bagan Myothit, Nyaung U Township, Mandalay Region. The villagers, including the village administrator U Myint Zaw, were holding a meeting to organize a Maha Pathan ceremony at the time.
The group responsible for the shooting was identified as the Bagan Bo Cho faction. During this tragic event, U Myint Zaw, U Tin Myaing, U Khin Maung Htay, U Khin Maung Than, U Than Htun, U Soe Min, and U Kyi Htun lost their lives, while six other villagers sustained serious injuries.
The deceased and injured individuals were transported to the Nyaung U District General Hospital by security forces and officials for medical treatment.
Reports indicate that security forces are collaborating with local residents to implement necessary security measures. Their goal is to swiftly identify and prosecute the terrorists responsible for the inhumane murders of administrative officials and innocent villagers who were engaged in religious activities.
