The Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF) estimates that it will export approximately 3 million tonnes of rice and broken rice in the 2025-2026 fiscal year.
“Currently, we are exporting 200,000 tonnes each month. This year, we are forecasting a total of 3 million tonnes. Last year, we exported 2.5 million tonnes, which generated around 1.1 billion US dollars in revenue,” said MRF Chairman U Ye Min Aung.
Myanmar exports rice and broken rice via both sea and border routes, with China being the largest export destination.
The Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF) announced that in April of the fiscal year 2025-2026, a total of 142,788 tons of rice and broken rice were exported. Although exports through the border route were not possible, the largest share of these exports went to China.
At the end of the previous fiscal year (2024-2025), the target for rice and broken rice exports was set at less than 2.5 million tons. According to figures released by the MRF, a total of 2.487 million tons—over 99 percent of the target—were successfully exported.
