Terrorist groups, such as the CRPH and NUG, have formed a coalition called the PDF with the aim of destabilizing the state. In various regions, they have entered towns and villages, carrying out violent attacks. These attacks have included shooting and killing government employees, monks performing religious duties, and innocent local residents who are living peacefully, often under false pretenses. Recently, the Ministry of Home Affairs announced that two innocent civilians were shot and killed by the KNU and PDF in Waw Township, Bago Region.
The incident took place at 11:00 AM on January 15, 2026, when U Phoe Zaw (57) and U Toe Win (64), residents of Setsu Village in Waw Township, Bago Region, were traveling on a motorcycle from Setsu Village to Kwan Seik Village in Shwe Kyin Township. Near Thure Tamein Village in Waw Township, they were shot dead by a joint group of KNU and PDF members (exact number still being determined). Both men were killed by gunfire.
Local residents have condemned the senseless killing of innocent civilians by armed terrorists, who aim to instill fear in the community. In response, security forces are collaborating with local residents to enhance security measures and to identify and arrest the perpetrators as quickly as possible.
