Due to the influence of a low-pressure area over the northwestern Bay of Bengal, as well as the momentum of easterly wind waves moving in, Myanmar is expected to experience widespread rainfall and strong winds as Typhoon “Ragasa” approaches within the next 48 hours.
From September 24 to 27, scattered heavy rainfall is likely in the upper Sagaing Region, Kachin State, and northern Shan State, while Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon Region, Mandalay Region, Bago Region, Magway Region, southern Sagaing Region, Ayeyarwady Region, Tanintharyi Region, Kayah State, Kayin State, Chin State, Mon State, Rakhine State, and south and eastern Shan State may experience isolated to widespread heavy rains.
In particular, Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Bago, Magway, Ayeyarwady, Tanintharyi, Kayin, Mon and Rakhine are at risk of very heavy rainfall in some areas.
