A Tatmadaw (Air Force) fighter jet disappeared from radar 130 kilometers (approximately 80.78 miles) southeast of Nay Pyi Taw during a nighttime long-range training flight on July 1, 2025. The military reported that communication with the aircraft was lost.
Preliminary investigations by officials suggest that the incident may have been caused by a mechanical failure or sudden adverse weather conditions. Search and rescue teams are being dispatched to the area where communication was lost, despite challenging weather conditions, and relevant authorities are coordinating the efforts.
130 kilometers southeast of Nay Pyi Taw is a region characterized by complex terrain, including hills and mountains. There are speculations that communication may have been lost shortly after the aircraft took off.
On June 10, a military plane crashed and caught fire in Pale Township.
