Baby falcons of the rare hornbill, a natural heritage that should be valued and protected, were successfully hatched in the Yangon Zoological Garden.
According to Yangon Zoo, the hornbill is a representative bird of Chin State and is included among the species that should be protected and preserved.
On 9 March 2025, the female hornbill entered the nest to give birth, and the chick’s first sounds were heard on 10 April. Yangon Zoo reported that the mother and chick left their nest on 17 June and began communicating with the outside world.
As a result of the birth of the baby bird, the zoo has achieved its stated goal. A male hornbill never leaves a female during breeding season, feeding and caring for her. Their habits are so exemplary that humans can learn from them, according to the Yangon Zoo.
