From May 23rd, U Win Naing, an external meteorologist, has warned that waves of up to 13 meters high are expected along Myanmar’s coast due to the development of a low-pressure area.
He added that heavy rains are expected on May 26th, causing high waves in the delta, along the Mon-Taninatharyi coast, and along the Rakhine coast. During the heavy rains, winds of up to 45 miles per hour and waves of up to 13 feet high are expected.
Similarly, according to the Myanmar Meteorological Department (Yangon Division) today, the low-pressure area is currently near the southern coast of Andhra Pradesh, India and is likely to intensify into a stronger low-pressure area within the next (24) hours.
Due to the thermal clouds that are being lifted by the low-pressure area, scattered rains are likely to occur in the regions and states from today (May 28) onwards, with scattered heavy rains, localized heavy rains, lightning, thunder, hail, thundershowers and strong winds.
