After the recent Mandalay earthquake, Brazil donated humanitarian aid to Myanmar’s recovery efforts. Thirteen boxes weighing 5,820 kilograms contained medical supplies, nutritious dried food, and water purifiers. The aid was transported by a Korean Air Airbus flight, which arrived at Yangon International Airport at 7:30 p.m. on 5 May.
The donated items were handed over by Mr Gustavo Rocha de Menezes, Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil, and officials, and were accepted by Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, regional ministers, and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Department of Public Health under the Ministry of Health, and the Department of Disaster Management under the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement yesterday morning.
Supplies were arranged for prompt delivery to earthquake-affected areas after the chief minister and officials inspected them at the airport.
