On February 20, the SAC government announced that it would crack down on smuggling natural resources and shortly after, airstrikes were launched on the Myaing PDFs, which were operating a prostitution ring on the Myaing-Pauk border, at the same time as yesterday, airstrikes were carried out on the Mandalay PDFs, which control and collect taxes from smuggling, and on the Letpanhla village in Singu Township, where the gold mining market is located, killing at least 27 people.
Since July 2024, Singu Township has been under the control of Mandalay PDF and continues to operate illegal gold mining operations under tax control. Singu Township, Letpanhla Police Station, is also under the control of PDF, and on March 4, a direct bomb attack on the police station resulted in the death of at least 6 PDFs.
Yesterday, March 14, at 3 pm, Mandalay PDF confirmed that at least 27 people were killed and about 30 injured in a bomb attack on the market in Letpanhla village, the source of the gold mining activity carried out by Mandalay PDFs.
