As the government has been cracking down on those who were involved in illegal online gambling, scams and criminal activities in Shwe Kokko and KK Park in Myawady, Kayin State by illegally entering Myanmar through border routes after transiting neighbouring countries including Thailand and 168 more illegal foreign migrants were detained today.
Combined teams of relevant departments are collecting their personal information and documents within a day to repatriate them to relevant countries as soon as possible.
Moreover, Minister for Security and Border Affairs Col Min Thu Kyaw of Kayin State Government and officials inspected the proper detention of illegal migrants this morning and the collection of personal information and documents of the 168 more illegal migrants detained today.
Then, the security and border affairs minister met with departmental officials and coordinated necessary measures for collecting correct and complete information, providing healthcare, accommodation and food and facilitating the repatriation process of illegal migrants without delays.
During the period from 30 January to 25 February, 2025, a total of 2,538 illegal foreign migrants to Myanmar were uncovered and detained and 673 of them were properly repatriated to relevant countries through Thailand in accordance with the law, rules and regulations and the remaining 1,865 illegal migrants are ready for repatriation to their countries while they are being detained properly.

Mrs. Nguyen Sinh Nga (Vietnamese citizen)
I was told by Chinese national Sai Cua, who I was familiar with online, that I would get a marketing job in Thailand and the salary would be discussed when we met in person. So, I left Noi Bar Airport, Vietnam for Bangkok by air on 8 November, 2024. A Thai national came to meet and greet me at the airport and took me to Mae Sot.
Then, we crossed a creek by a motorized boat. On arrival at the other bank, I was taken by a car, which was waiting for me, to the 100-acre Myitta Lin Myaing site in Myawady. I had to handle computer marketing online and find customers for the Dang Chu company owned by a Chinese national.
I was paid 25,500 Baht per month.
Mr. Qiau Ke Ji, China (Taipei)
My education status is posthigh school level. I had worked in online scam centres before. I was told online that I would get a gold smuggling job in Bangkok and would be paid 50,000 Baht.
So, I left Tai Zhong Airport for Bangkok by air on 23 March, 2024. I stayed one night at a Bangkok hotel and continued to Mae Sot by a car owned by a Thai national. On arrival at Mae Sot, I crossed the river by motorized boat to the 100-acre site in Myitta Lin Myaing Village in Myawady. I got a job in the Huan Ya company owned by Chinese national Zhong Guo and had to work for online scam operations.
I was paid 12,500 Baht per month.
Mrs. Shi Rong Min (Chinese national)
My education status is university level. I was persuaded by a Chinese national through WeChat that I would have to smuggle gold in Thailand and would be paid handsomely. So, I left Shi Bi Zian city, China, for Bangkok by air on 12 September, 2024. On arrival in Bangkok, I was taken by a Thai national to Mae Sot, where I crossed a river to Myanmar by motorized boat.
I had to work in the Huan Ya company owned by Chinese national Zhong Guo in the 100- acre site in Myitta Lin Myaing Village in Myawady. I had to work for online scam operations. I was not paid.
