The incident occurred at around noon on February 11, when a primary school teacher and six students from the Basic Education High School (BSH) in Tungbyawgyi Village, Myeik Township, were leaving with a vehicle to the Basic Education High School (BSH) in Taungphila Village to pick up desks needed for exams. When the terrorists detonated a mine near Taungpu Village, about 3 miles from Tungbyawgyi Village, the vehicle was attacked. Among the students, Maung Htet Ye Ko and Maung Htet Ye Lin were injured by the mine.
Security forces have arrived at the scene of the incident and are carrying out security operations. Two students who were injured by mines have been taken to the local military hospital in Myeik for medical treatment. Security operations are being stepped up in collaboration with residents to identify and arrest the terrorists who detonated the mines.
