USAID has pledged $8 million for seven human rights protection projects to protect Myanmar’s freedoms, $30 million for nine democracy promotion projects, and $1 million for two independent media support programs, totaling nearly $40 million. It is not yet known when the funds will be allowed after the Trump government’s suspension.
In addition to human rights and democracy, around $110 million in funding pledged to Myanmar projects under USAID, including $22 million in humanitarian assistance, $30 million in education, $22 million in health, and $33 million in agriculture, has also been suspended.
