The Dragon Brothers GBK PDF, a PDF group involved in the killing of an unarmed village administrator in Gyopingkauk Township, Bago Region, yesterday morning, has confessed today to the crime.
The incident occurred at 11 a.m. yesterday when U Htun Aung, the administrator of Kan Oo Group in Gyobingauk Township, was killed by a joint operation by Battalion 3802, Company (1), Dragon Brothers GBK, and Battalion 3801, Company (1), YOMA GBK, from Tharyarwady District.
The two PDF groups that committed the murders claimed that U Tun Aung had collected money from farmers and labourers, such as 40,000 and 80,000 kyats, and had been named as a PDF group,
had participated in the forcible confiscation of people’s property, had extorted excessive amounts of money and used it for personal gain, and had helped recruit military personnel to the village of Rintike Kwin. However, MT News could not confirm the truth of these allegations.
Bago Region is a region where the PDF assassinated many administrators and citizens, but there were very few arrests. Similarly, since the start of the Spring Revolution until the end of July 2024, over 230 children, more than 90 monks, and approximately 1,200 civil servants—including village administrators, teachers, and government staff—have been killed. Around 8,000 civilians have been accused of being “dalans,” or spies and collaborators for the military junta, and have been killed by the NLD (National League for Democracy), NUG (National Unity Government), PDFs, and EAOs (Ethnic Armed Organizations).
