According to the Myanmar police force, 1.38 million pills of hallucinogenic drugs, valued at over 2 billion kyats, were seized in Thazi Township, Mandalay Region, on January 24, during an operation aimed at stopping the illegal drug trade.
The operation involved a joint team from the Anti-Narcotics Task Force. The team, acting on intelligence, intercepted an I ZONE cargo truck driven by Myo Min Oo (alias Mae Gyi) at 11 PM, travelling from Muse to Yangon near the Kywe Tat Sone village in Thazi Township. During the search of the vehicle, authorities discovered the concealed drugs hidden inside, worth over 2 billion kyats.
Upon interrogation, the arrested suspect revealed that the drugs were being transported from Northern Shan State to Yangon for distribution and sale. Legal action has been taken against the suspect, and investigations continue to identify other individuals involved in the criminal network.
