The AA has admitted to committing war crimes after a human rights group, Fortify Rights, filed a complaint with the International Criminal Court (ICC) alleging that the Rakhine armed group AA had committed war crimes.
The leaked video shows two captives of war being tortured and killed by AA members on 7 Feb 2024, AA spokesman Khaing Thukha told. The video clip shows two elderly soldiers being brutally tortured and beheaded by AA , in violation of the Geneva Conventions. A human rights group of Rakhine migrant workers in Thailand has called for international action against the AA, which is a war crime.
The AA has admitted that this incident was committed by AA when the Arakan Army attacked and fired on the No.(9) Operations Command of the Myanmar army in Kyauktaw Township, Rakhine State.
AA spokesman Khaing Thukha said in an interview with the BBC that it was a “retaliatory violation of military discipline.”
