The Mae Sot – Myawaddy No. 1 Friendship Bridge on the Thailand-Myanmar border has been temporarily closed to traffic since the early morning of April 21. The fighting between Myanmar Army and the PDF group, KNLA terrorist coalitions is fierce and the local people are trying to escape the war to the Mae Sot side. Starting early this morning, hundreds of local residents have been waiting near No. (1) Friendship Bridge to cross to the Mae Sot side. At around (8) in the morning, the Myanmar side of the bridge gate was closed, so they could not cross, according to local news sources. A local resident close to the officials working at the bridge said that the temporary closure of the bridge was due to insufficient documents to issue a temporary border pass card.
