Although it is written that the former president of the Kachin Baptist Christian Federation (KBC), Dr. Khlum Sansom, was arrested less than 24 hours after his release by the security forces, they were not arrested, but called back for peace talks by leader of SAC Information Team Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun.
“He is also a peace broker at KBC, so that we can continue to discuss about peace, He was also called to inquire about the situation,” Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun told the BBC.
Dr. Khlum Sansom was sentenced to two years in prison under Section 17(1) of the Unlawful Association Law, one year under Section 505(a) of defaming the State and three years under Section 52 (a) of the counter-terrorism law totalling six years on April 7, 2023 by Myitkyina prison special court. He was arrested and detained at Mandalay Tada-U Airport on the morning of December 5, 2022, and was sent to Myitkyina Prison on December 28.
