According to an official of Mini Owai Taxi, the incident happened yesterday when the driver of a Mini Owai was robbed by his throat cut near Eainshae Min Htantaw between Innkelywar and Minkan, Mandalay.
It is believed that the robbers fled with the TVS mini van No. 16U/7118, along with a phone and some cash. The victim of the robbery is a resident of 86th Street and 8th Street North, and his wife said that she dropped the phone when her husband called her in the afternoon because he hadn’t eaten yet. He called for help when he did not return until nightfall. It is reported that the family found out that the deceased had arrived at the Mandalay Hospital mortuary at around 9:00 pm due to the connection between the local charity and relevant officials.
The taxi driver who was killed left behind a wife and a 3 year old son. The body was taken to the hospital on the 11th at 10:00 a.m. and buried at the Aye Yate Nyein Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
The concerned parties are investigating and apprehending the victims of the robbery, and the Mini Owai team has appealed to the Mandalay Region Police and the local police to help them identify the culprits as soon as possible.
