More than 5 kg of drugs from Myanmar were arrested for the second time in two days in Mizoram state, India

India-based media reported that two men, including a Myanmar national, were found in possession of more than 5 kilograms of heroin brought from Myanmar in Aizawl, Mizoram state. This is the second drug arrest in two days.

Yesterday, the Department of Drug Prevention and Control in Aizawl, Mizoram State, Aizawl city The authorities seized 5,427 kilograms of heroin from Le Nuan Mowia (38 years old) who currently lives in Aizou in the Falkland region and Lecha Williana (34 years old), a Myanmar citizen who currently lives in Varamti.

The people who were arrested hid the heroin wrapped in sack cloth, and according to the interrogation, it was reported that the heroin was smuggled from Myanmar. In addition, officials also seized a TATA YODHA brand truck used to transport drugs, according to news reports.

All those arrested have been charged under the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Act, and if convicted, can be sentenced to 10 to 20 years in prison and a fine of 1 to 2 lakh rupees. Similarly, last Tuesday, three women, including two Myanmar nationals, were arrested for possession of more than 5 kilograms of drugs and methamphetamine.
