It has been investigated from Muse local sources, at Northern Shan State that there are hundreds of thousands of Burmese citizens who will enter the Shweli side of China through Muse town with temporary border crossing permits (TBP). The border crossing restrictions, which had been suspended for around three years since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, were eased last year through negotiations between the governments of the two countries. According to the Chinese government’s employment policy, these temporary residence card holders are not allowed to be employed, but Chinese employers are forcing them to work with understanding.
The border crossing permit holders are only allowed to stay in the area of Shweli City on the Chinese side for 7 days, and if the specified date is up, they will be allowed to enter again only after applying the card again at the gate where they entered. However, it is reported that currently there are people who have been arrested for staying in China for more than a few days.
