An ancient teak monastery and Makkhaya City will be transformed into tourist attractions

According to U Min Maung Soe, Deputy Director of the Mandalay Region Directorate of Hotels and Tourism, a century-old teak monastery in Aungmyethazan Township and an ancient city in Singaing Township are slated for development as new tourist destinations in the Mandalay Region.

The teak monastery holds significance for Thai tourists because it represents ancient Myanmar-Thai architecture from the Konbaung era, with a statue illustrating its architect’s work.

The Mandalay Region Directorate of Hotels and Tourism preserves the ancient city of Makkhaya in Singaing Township, Mandalay Region, as it offers visitors the opportunity to witness the architectural wonders dating back to the Nyaungyan period, earlier than the Konbaung era.
