The 72nd Buddha Pujaniya Festival will be held at Thiri Mingala Kaba Aye Pagoda

According to the pagoda board of trustees, the 72nd Buddha Pujaniya Festival will be held from 21 to 25 February at the Thiri Mingala Kaba Aye Pagoda in Mayangon Township, Yangon Region. Buddha Pujaniya will be held for the first time since 2020, when the Covid-19 pandemic led to the festival’s suspension.

“The festival couldn’t be held for three years due to outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. It had been suspended since 2020. This year, the 72nd Buddha Pujaniya Festival of the Thiri Mingala Kaba Aye Pagoda will be held again for five days. The consecration cere- mony of the pagoda, recitation of Pathana treatise, offering alms and Htamane (Glutinous Rice Festival) will be included,” said a member of Trustees Board of Kaba Aye Pagoda.

A Htamane making festival will be held on 22 and 23 February as part of the festival. Alms will be offered on 24 February, and on 25 February, the pagoda will be consecrated by 45 members of the Sangha, while well-wishers will donate alms to 48 members.
