The Embassy and Permanent Mission of Myanmar is serving the current chairmanship of ASEAN-Vienna Committee for 6 months from July to December 2022, it is learnt.
Myanmar Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations and current alternative Chair of ASEAN-Vienna Committee U Min Thein delivered an opening remarks at the 55th ASEAN Day held at the Vienna International Centre in Vienna on 2 August.
On behalf of Director-General of United Nations Office in Vienna(UNOV), Mr.Jean-Luc Lemahieu, Director of the Division for Policy Analysis and Public Affairs also gave remarks at the event.
Present on the occasion were representatives and officials from the Office of the Director-General(UNOV), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime(UNODC), International Atomic Energy Agency(IAEA), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), a representative of the Federal Ministry of European and International Affairs of Austria, Permanent Representatives and their spouses as well as representatives from the Permanent Missions based on Vienna, totaling about 200 guests.
The ASEAN-Vienna Committee is composed of the Embassies and Permanent Missions of Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, and the Permanent Mission of Singapore.
