Union Minister for Commerce U Chit Swe met with a delegation led by H.E. Ms. Ma Jia, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Myanmar, at the Union Minister’s Reception Room in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
During the meeting, they discussed the reopening of border gates to enhance trade between Myanmar and China. They also addressed cooperation in machinery and technology needed to ensure that Myanmar’s exports to China meet quality standards, as well as increasing the number of items allowed for duty-free exports to China.
They discussed the potential for cooperation to benefit the people living along the border, focusing on opportunities for increased trade and investment.
The Union Minister also met with H.E. Mr. Bounphieng Chanthavong, the Ambassador of Laos to Myanmar, yesterday evening to explore the possibility of exporting more of Myanmar’s primary products, including agricultural and marine goods, to Laos.
Additionally, they talked about upgrading the Kyeng Lap-Si Ngoc Bridge to serve as an international entry and exit point, facilitating the movement of goods and people. They also considered further developing the Wang Phong-Ban Maung Mang border gates.
