The administrator of Moe Kaung Village Tract in Aung Lan Township was shot dead by four individuals affiliated with the National Unity Government (NUG) while attending an educational symposium for young students.
The incident occurred on January 3, 2026, at 12:10 p.m. U Yin Min Htun, also known as Min Min, aged 53, was attending the educational symposium at the Moe Kaung Village Basic Education High School when the four people arrived on two motorcycles and opened fire on him. U Yin Min Htun sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died from his injuries.
Similarly, since the start of the Spring Revolution until the end of December 2024, over 230 children, more than 90 monks, and approximately 1,200 civil servants—including village administrators, teachers, and government staff—have been killed. Around 9,000 civilians have been accused of being “dalans,” or spies and collaborators for the military junta, and have been killed by the NLD (National League for Democracy), NUG (National Unity Government), PDFs, and EAOs (Ethnic Armed Organizations).
