The collective Yoga session marking the 11th International Day of Yoga was organized at the Maravijaya Buddha Park compound in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
It was attended by State Administration Council Member General Nyo Saw, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman U Than Tun Oo, deputy ministers, Nay Pyi Taw Council members, the Indian Ambassador to Myanmar, officials from the Indian Embassy, departmental officials and those interested in Yoga.
Speaking at the event, SAC Member General Nyo Saw highlighted the holding of the 10th International Day of Yoga under the guidance of the SAC Chairman at the Maravijaya Buddha Park compound, as well as the successful organization of the 11th event. This Yoga session at the iconic Maravijaya Buddha in Naypyitaw was attended by more than 350 participants, including senior representatives and enthusiasts.
He also stated the theme of Yoga, “Yoga for Harmony and Peace”, and the important role of Yoga for all ages to ensure a long, healthy life.
A Yoga instructor from the Indian Embassy then demonstrated the Yoga session, and attendees participated in it.
The SAC Member and Indian Ambassador to Myanmar, Mr Shri Abhay Thakur, exchanged gifts, and the ambassador donated cash for the overall renovation of the pagoda.
They all posed for a documentary photo, offered alms food, flowers, and water to the Buddha Image, and planted ironwood trees in the park compound to mark the 11th International Day of Yoga and a collective Yoga session.
