The agreement states that citizens of Russia and Myanmar have the right to “enter, transit and stay in the territory” of the other country that has signed the agreement without a visa. However, this rule does not apply to those entering for permanent residence, study or work.
If a person intends to stay in the country for more than 30 days in one trip, he will also need to obtain a visa. The maximum total period of stay without a visa during the year will be established by the Russian Federation and Myanmar independently in accordance with their own legislation. The maximum period of stay for foreigners in Russia without a visa is currently up to 90 days per year.
Mikhail Mishustin also instructed the Russian Foreign Ministry to sign the agreement on behalf of the Russian government upon reaching an agreement with the Myanmar side.
