The indigenous tribes of Kanpetlet Township have issued a statement saying they will respond with armed resistance to the forced recruitment and oppression by the Rakhine armed groups AA and Chin Brotherhood, which have seized Kanpetlet.
After the retreat of the military camps on December 21, 2024, the Rakhine armed group ULA/AA and the CDF Kanpetlet Chin Brotherhood group announced the occupation of Kanpetlet town. The Kanpetlet people are facing violations of their inherent human rights, forced recruitment, extortion, intimidation, detention, military deployment, and violations of the customs, traditions, culture, and religion of the indigenous people.
The indigenous people of Kanpetlet Township absolutely could not accept the crimes committed against the Chin people by the Rakhine AA and the Chin Brotherhood, so they held a public meeting on January 12 and made a decision. According to the conclusion of this meeting, no person or organization should encroach or encroach on the ancestral lands and natural resources owned by the Indigenous tribes of Kanpetlet Township, protect and preserve them, and resolve the issues of Kanpetlet Township only by the Indigenous tribes of Kanpetlet.
Therefore, the Kanpetlet indigenous tribe has issued a statement stating that if the Rakhine ULA/AA and CDF Chin Brotherhood groups continue to violate the decisions and wishes of the Kanpetlet people, the Chin people will take up arms and fight back.
In Chin State, the CB loyal to the AA and NUG includes the Chin armed forces CNDF, CDF Kanpetlet, CDF Matupi (Brigade – 1), CDF Mindat, Mara armed forces MTC/MDF and Zoland Defence Force. However, in Chin State, the Chin ethnic groups prefer the Chinland Council (CC), which is a coalition of Chin ethnic groups, rather than the Chin Brotherhood loyal to the AA and NUG. The AA, which is raping Chin schoolgirls, is demanding that all Chin organizations leave Chin State; the GKO’s statement, the Chin public protests, and the Chin State Council’s armed CNA/CNF alliance are also trying to fight the AA.
