Myanmar Extends State of Emergency Rule by Another Six Months

The State Administration Council (SAC) said on Wednesday that it will extend a state of emergency for another six months until July 31, 2024.
During the meeting of the National Defense and Security Council, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing reported on attacks occurring in some areas controlled by ethnic groups, among other administrative updates.SAC chairman emphasized the ongoing necessity for Myanmar to attain stability, peace, and to normalcy. He reaffirmed the ongoing preparations for a free and fair multi-party democracy general election and a nationwide census.
Afterward, Acting President U Myint Swe informed the council that the state of emergency would be extended for another six months based on the consensus among its members.
