The 2025-2026 academic year’s Matriculation Examination began yesterday, with 268,753 students registered to take the exam. Of these, 255,228 students participated, resulting in a turnout rate of nearly 95 percent, as announced by the Ministry of Education.
On the first day, 112,191 male students and 156,562 female students registered to take the Myanmar language subject, with examinations held in 105 districts, 266 townships, and 887 examination centers. This made a total of 268,753 registered students. Among those who took the exam, 104,259 were male and 150,969 were female, totaling 255,228 students, which translates to a turnout rate of 94.97 percent.
In a similar manner, for the first day of the Industrial, Agricultural, and Livestock Matriculation Examination for the Myanmar language subject, there were registrations from 41 districts, 50 townships, and 887 examination centers, with totals of 104,259 male students and 150,969 female students. The Ministry of Education reported that 3,386 students, consisting of 2,005 males and 1,381 females, sat for the examination across 53 departments. Out of them, 3,364 students—the total of 1,992 males and 1,372 females—actually took the exam, resulting in a turnout rate of 99.35 percent.
The 2026 university entrance exams will commence today with the Myanmar language exam, followed by English on March 12, Mathematics on March 13, Chemistry and Geography on March 14, Physics and History on March 16, and Biology and Economics on March 17. Sunday, March 15, has been declared a holiday.
Also, the university entrance exams for the industry, agriculture, and livestock streams will start today, March 11, and will continue until March 18, with March 15 also designated as a holiday.
