The Union Election Commission (UEC) announced yesterday that once the election concludes, the polling station supervisor, polling station members, and polling station representatives will sign the back of the results slip printed from the MEVM control unit.
When asked whether the results recorded by the voting machine after the polls closed would be confirmed or if the ballots in the ballot boxes would be recounted, the UEC responded:
“On election day, after voting at the polling station is completed, the polling station manager must press the (on/off) button on the MEVM to close the voting. They should then press the Print button on the MEVM to generate a results slip. This slip must be signed on the back by the polling station manager, polling station members, and polling station representatives. The ballots recorded in the MEVM will not be counted again.”
The UEC also stated that advance votes received before the polling station opened will be counted in the presence of witnesses, members of the public, and polling station representatives. The ballots will be filled out according to the prescribed format and posted at the polling station.
