The opening ceremony of the new Central Bank of Myanmar (Mandalay Branch) office building was held this morning, and was attended by the Acting President of Myanmar and Chairman of the National Security and Peace Commission Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
After the Acting President opened the new Central Bank of Myanmar (Mandalay Branch) building by pressing the button, the new building was sprinkled with fragrant water. Then, the Acting President and members toured the new Central Bank of Myanmar (Mandalay Branch) building.
Then, Union Minister for Construction U Myo Thant handed over the transfer record book related to the new Central Bank of Myanmar (Mandalay Branch) building to Daw Than Than Swe, Chairperson of the Central Bank of Myanmar.
The Chairman of the Central Bank of Myanmar presented a souvenir to the Acting President to commemorate the opening of the new Mandalay Branch building. The Acting President then viewed photos documenting the construction of the new building, while officials provided explanations about the project.
The Central Bank of Myanmar is pursuing goals and objectives that align with the evolving landscape of the financial sector to ensure its stable development. It aims to supervise and regulate the financial sector more effectively across the states and regions of Myanmar.
Additionally, the bank is committed to integrating financial sector development with the overall development of each region. This includes promoting financial inclusion in various areas, including border regions, and enhancing regulatory and supervisory measures.
The new office building for the Central Bank of Myanmar (Mandalay Branch) was constructed in Mandalay, the country’s economic hub, during the 2022-2023 fiscal year under the guidance of the Acting President. The Ministry of Construction oversaw the project, ensuring it adhered to international central bank standards.
