The Government of Myanmar has been carrying out systematic demolition and confiscation of illegal buildings, including those used in online fraud and gambling operations, in the Shwe Kokko and Myawady-Maehtawthalay (KK Park) areas where such activities are most prevalent. A joint force comprising security forces, administrative bodies, and local officials has been entering and clearing the illegal buildings. To date, 293 illegal buildings in the KK Park area have been systematically demolished, and 161 illegal buildings in the Shwe Kokko area have been sealed and confiscated.
Today, an additional 5 illegal buildings in section (3) of the Myawady-Maeh-tawthalay (KK Park) area comprising two 2-storey, one 3-storey, and two 4-storey buildings were demolished.
This brings the total number of demolished buildings in section (3) to 145 out of 425 buildings to date. Overall, 293 out of a total of 635 illegal buildings in the KK Park area have been demolished.
Furthermore, inspections of buildings used for online fraud activities in the Shwe Kokko area began on November 18. To date, 383 buildings have been inspected, and among them, 169 buildings used for online fraud and gambling operations have been identified. Sealing
and confiscation measures are being carried out on these buildings to prevent their reuse. So far, 161 illegal buildings have been sealed and confiscated. Among these illegal buildings, demolition work began today on one 13-storey building.
According to the total clearance operations in the Shwe Kokko area to date, authorities have inspected, discovered, and seized a total of 1,954 foreign nationals illegally residing in Myanmar, along with 3,310 computers, 21,870 mobile phones,
102 Starlink receivers, 22 routers, and a large amount of equipment used in committing online fraud and gambling crimes. The seized items have been systematically destroyed, and clearance operations will continue.
Additionally, 360 foreign nationals who committed crimes including online gambling and fraud in Myawady, Kayin State, and the Shwe Kokko area comprising 293 Chinese, 56 Ethiopians, and 11 Pakistani nationals were handed over to their respective countries today via the Myanmar-Thailand (No.2) Friendship Bridge. The handover was conducted in accordance with legal procedures, prioritizing humanitarian considerations and friendly relations between nations.
From January 30 to December 3, 2025, a total of 12,945 foreign nationals who entered Myanmar illegally were detain-ed. All have been processed, and 10,961 of them have been systematically re-patriated to their respective countries through Thailand in accordance with legal procedures. The remaining 1,984 foreign nationals are ready to be handed over to their respective countries and are being well-detained and cared for.
The government, taking the fight against online fraud and gambling crimes as a national duty, will continue its efforts to comletely prevent their establishment in Myanmar. These efforts will involve coordination not only with domestic forces but also with the governments of neighbouring countries.
