The Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement announced yesterday that person with disabilities will be able to vote in elections using Myanmar electronic voting machines without the help of others.
The Union Election Commission has developed a Myanmar electronic voting machine based on Braille to enable people with disabilities, especially the visually impaired, to vote secretly, in an effort to make the elections inclusive, said Dr. Soe Win, Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement.
The Union Minister called on all person with disabilities who are eligible to vote in the upcoming multi-party democratic general election to actively participate in voting, and for the Myanmar Federation of Disabled Persons and officials to support and cooperate in this effort.
