Proscribed organizations, CRPH and NUG, and their subordinate PDF terrorist groups, and the related groups and individuals, with the intention of destroying national peace and stability and creating general climate of fear among the public through the destruction of administrative machinery are applying multiple types of terrorism, including assassinations, with innocent persons as the main target, and torching and blowing up public buildings.
On 22 May morning this year, U Cho Tun Aung, a retired ambassador, was shot dead while taking a walk with his grandchild by two men (under investigation then) in front of his residence at the corner of Shwehninzi and Weikza streets, Ward 5, Mayangon Township.
In order to prevent such terrorist attacks, security forces tried to identify the suspects through investigation. Thanks to the information provided by the public that the bicycle used in the terrorist attacks was carried by a three-wheel vehicle, security members could arrest the vehicle driver, San Htet Aung (a) Bagothar, age 40, at his home at No. 248, Khaingshwewa Third Street, Htawunbe Ward, North Okkalapa Township, together with bicycle on 23 May. They also arrested Win Thu (a) Kalarlay, age 39, who acted as a supporter in the terrorist attack, at his home at No. 233, Seinchal Street, Htawunbe Ward, North Okkalapa Township.
Confessions of the suspects led to the arrest of a fleeing felon, Myo Ko Ko (a) Sai Ko Ko (a) Zin Min Htet (a) Lin Let Zaw, age 28, who assassinated U Cho Tun Aung, his wife PyonePyone, age 24, and daughter, Lin Let Shwe, age 6, in Old Bagan, NyaungU Township, on 25 May and Aung Hsan Hein, age 25, who drove them to the place, and Nyi Nyi Hlaing, age 39, who made contacts, in Mudon, Mon State.
According to the suspect, Myo Ko Ko (a) Sai Ko Ko (a) Zin Min Htet (a) Lin Let Zaw, the security members came to know that the family of another suspect at large, Chit Ko Ko (a) Kyaw Gyi, an accomplice in the murder, was planning an escape route to Myawady and they were able to corner and arrested Myint Myint Htwe, age 39, wife of Chit Ko Ko (a) Kyaw Gyi, Aung Ko Ko Chit, age 18, Zin Maung Maung (a) Arno, age 27, and Pyo Wai Aung (a) Ashegyi, age 40, who helped them to flee, at the checkpoint at the entrance to Bago.
The confessions of the suspects led to the arrest of three more suspects, who acted asscouts in terrorist acts including the assassination of U Cho Tun Aung, Min Sithu (a) Angelay, age 29, and Kyaw Zin Thant (a) Lwin Gyi (a) Kyaw Zin, age 33, at a house at No 177, Zaygalay Street, Zaygalay Ward, Kyimyindine Township, and Han Lin Aung, age 28, who lived at No 32, Theinni Street, Thida Ward, Kyimyindine Township on 29 May.
Myo Ko Ko (a) Sai Ko Ko (a) Zin Min Htet (a) Lin Let Zaw, told security members that during the assassination attempt, his gun malfunctioned and he was wounded in the left leg; that he secretly received medical treatment at Lin special hospital, No 524, Myintawtha Street, 4/South Ward, Thaketa Township. Hence, security members arrested DCS doctor, Zaw Ko Ko, age 38, who provided illegal medical treatment, and the owner of the hospital set up with DCS doctors, Ye Lin Soe, age 36.
In connection with the case, 13 male suspects and three female suspects, totaling 16 were arrested together with tools they used in the murder.
According to the suspects, Golden Valley Warrior was formed under the sponsorship of Yi Mon, a fugitive from terrorist group NUG, in Chiang Mai, Thailand in March 2023. Golden Valley Warrior had eight members led by Ko Htet, still at large, and its goal is to launch terrorist attacks in Yangon and to kill innocent persons they disliked, under the accusation of informant.
Authorities further learned from the suspects that the suspect, Ko Htet, order the assassination of U Cho Tun Aung after sending the photo of U Cho Tun Aung and the location of his house on Google Map through the telegram; that the suspects, Myo Ko Ko (a) Sai Ko Ko (a) Zin Min Htet (a) Lin Let Zaw, Min Sithu (a) Angelay, and Kyaw Zin Thant (a) Lwin Gyi (a) Kyaw Zin, and Chit Ko Ko (a) Kyaw Gyi, still at large, observed the situation of the house of U Cho Tun Aung and the surrounding areas six times; and that Ko Htet, still at large, sent two pistols to Myo Ko Ko (a) Sai Ko Ko (a) Zin Min Htet (a) Lin Let Zaw on 21 May.
On 22 May, Myo Ko Ko (a) Sai Ko Ko (a) Zin Min Htet (a) Lin Let Zaw and Chit Ko Ko (a) Kyaw Gyi, still at large, left the Safehouse at No 103/104, Thapyaechan ring road, Ward 22, Shwepaukkan Myothit, by a bicycle hired by Ko Htet. When arrived at the place in front of U Cho Tun Aung’s house, Myo Ko Ko (a) Sai Ko Ko (a) Zin Min Htet (a) Lin Let Zaw fired four pistol rounds at U Cho Tun Aung. The pistol was jammed while firing shots and when he tried to fix it the bullet exploded and hit his left leg. The two came back to the safehouse by bicycle and asked San Htet Aung (a) Bagothar and Win Thu (a) Kalalay to hide the clothes they wore during the assassinations.
Myo Ko Ko (a) Sai Ko Ko (a) Zin Min Htet (a) Lin Let Zaw told authorities that he secretly received treatment from DCS doctor Zaw Ko Ko at Lin special hospital under the contact of Aung Thu, who was still at large; and that he was caught at Old Bagan while on his way to hide at a certain place in Pakokku Township with his family.
The suspects further revealed that under the orders of Yi Mon of NUG terrorist group, Golden Valley Warrior terrorist group had committed the following four assassinations with the aim of destroying the State administrative machinery and causing public panic.
Myo Ko Ko (a) Sai Ko Ko (a) Zin Min Htet (a) Lin Let Zaw, shot dead U Min Teza Nyunt Tin, a legal consultant, living at a house on Pontphyoyay Street, Ahmudan Ward, Than-lyin Township, on 24 March 2023, with a pistol. Chit Ko Ko (a) Kyaw Gyi, still at large, monitored the situation.
On 16 August 2023, Myo Ko Ko (a) Sai Ko Ko (a) Zin Min Htet (a) Lin Let Zaw and Chit Ko Ko (a) Kyaw Gyi shot at security personnel with a pistol in an ambush at Panchan 4th Street, Ward 3, Shwepyitha Township and Han Lin Aung was the watchman.
On 1 December 2023, Myo Ko Ko (a) Sai Ko Ko (a) Zin Min Htet (a) Lin Let Zaw killed U Than Tun, chair of the New National Democratic Party with a pistol and Min Sithu (a) Angelay, and Kyaw Zin Thant (a) Lwin Gyi (a) Kyaw Zin monitored the situation.
On 13 October 2024, Myo Ko Ko (a) Sai Ko Ko (a) Zin Min Htet (a) Lin Let Zaw tried to murder U Shwe Mann, a member of Ma-sa-pha 2, at a place near Aungmingala monastery, Ward 11, Hlaingthaya (West) Township, and driver U Thant Zin was wounded in the attack. Kyaw Zin Thant (a) Lwin Gyi (a) Kyaw Zin was the watchman.
According to the suspects, Golden Valley Warrior terrorist group had killed innocent people in Yangon, and accused them as informants. The NUG terrorist group paid Ks-200,000 for each assassination through the NUG Pay.
Effective legal action will be taken against the suspects. The entire public is requested to take part in anti-terrorist campaigns, and secretly provide information about the hiding place and movements of the remaining persons involved in terrorism to capture them at the earliest possible time. Persons who provide information and who take part in capturing the terrorists will be presented handsome awards and the entire people should take part in the anti-terrorist drive for the ensuring peace and stability in towns and villages.
