The Myanmar Pulses, Corn, and Sesame Traders Association anticipates generating approximately US$1.48 billion in foreign exchange from the export of 1.83 million tonnes of pulses in the 2025-2026 fiscal year.
Myanmar primarily exports around 20 different types of pulses, including mung beans, green beans, chickpeas, kidney beans, lentils, and butter beans. In the months of April and May of the 2025-2026 fiscal year, the country exported 422,537 tonnes of pulses, achieving over 20 percent of its export target.
The primary export route for pulses is by sea. India is the largest destination for these exports, followed by China, Vietnam, Pakistan, and Indonesia.
In the fiscal year 2024-2025, 2.14 million tons of pulses were exported, generating foreign exchange income of $1.8 billion.
