During the week from 9 to 15 May, the set fuel prices dipped to 2,825 Kyats per litre of Octane 92, 2,885 Kyats for Octane 95, 2,415 Kyats for diesel and 2,980 Kyats for premium diesel. Octane 92 was priced at 2,885 Kyats per litre, Octane 95 at 2,940 Kyats, diesel at 2,470 Kyats, and premium diesel at 3,055 Kyats this week ending 8 May, a decrease of 55 – 75 Kyats per litre.
According to the Supervisory Committee on Oil Import, Storage and Distribution of Fuel Oil, the price index set by Mean of Platts Singapore (MOPS), the pricing basis for many refined products in Southeast Asia, influences the domestic fuel prices.
The Petroleum Products Regulatory Department issues a daily reference wholesale price under the supervision of the Supervisory Committee on Oil Import, Storage and Distribution of Fuel Oil to ensure price stability for energy consumers.
