A ceremony to hoist and salute the state flag to honour the 78th Anniversary Union Day (2025) was held at the square in front of the city hall in Nay Pyi Taw this morning.Vice Chairman of State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Thiri Pyanchi Maha Thray Sithu Soe Win attended the ceremony and read out the message sent by Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Thadoe Maha Thray Sithu Thadoe Thiri Thudhamma Min Aung Hlaing.

The 78th Anniversary Union Day was held with the five objectives To strive for the perpetual development of the Union through the Union spirit, patriotic values, a sublime state of mind and a genuine nationalist spirit; To encourage collaborative efforts among all ethnic nationals to pursue dialogue for durable peace and to end armed conflicts; To collectively advance cooperation amongst all national people, the government, and Tatmadaw to ensure stability, peace and the rule of law; To enhance collaborative efforts to ensure nationwide stability and tranquillity, enabling the successful conduct of multi-party democratic general elections; and To promote equitable development across all regions and states, as well as enhance health, education and job opportunities for ethnic nationals.
The State Flag hoisting ceremony was held at 5.30 am. The flag-hoisting troop hoisted the flag of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar together with ethnic people.
Departmental personnel, social organization members, national races, and invited guests, who would attend the ceremony and salute the State Flag, began their march to the venue at 5 am and took positions. At 7 am, Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) Guard of Honour took position at the venue.
The Vice-Senior General took the position on the dais and salute of the Guard of Honour.
The Vice-Senior General and attendees saluted the State flag while the Guard of Honour played the national anthem.
He read the message sent by the Senior General to the 78th Anniversary of Union Day. The ceremony then concluded.
Also present at the ceremony were union ministers, union auditor-general, the chair of Union Civil Service Board, the Nay Pyi Taw Council chair, the governor of Central Bank of Myanmar, the Anti-Corruption Commission chair, the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission chair, senior military officers, judges of the Supreme Court of the Union, members of Constitutional Tribunal of Myanmar, Union election Commission members, deputy ministers, Anti-Corruption Commission members, Myanmar National Human Rights Commission members, Nay Pyi Taw Council members, heads of department, ministry staff, ethnic cultural dance troupes, ethnic representatives, and invited guests.
