Myanmar signed MOU with Rosatom Company in Russia Federation to conduct feasibility studies to build a power plan

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Rosatom Company in the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Electric Power of Myanmar in order to conduct feasibility studies to build a power plant using nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.

A delegation led by Union Minister for Electric Power U Thaung Han and Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr Myo Thein Kyaw currently in the Russian Federation, together with Myanmar Ambassador to the Russian Federation U Lwin Oo and officials, attended the second day of XII International Forum ATOMEXPO 2022 in Sochi of the Russian Federation on 22 November.

The Myanmar delegation led by the Union Ministers, together with the attendees, observed the construction of power plants related to nuclear power, nuclear medicine galleries, safety uniforms on display, and equipment manufacturing galleries for research reactors exhibited at the XII International Forum ATOMEXPO 2022.

Then, they signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Rosatom Company in the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Electric Power of Myanmar in order to conduct feacibility studies to build a power plant using nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.

Next, Union Minister U Thaung Han attended the discussion titled “Nuclear Spring: creating sustainable future” at the Plenary Session held at Atom Hall in Sirius Park of Science and Art.

Union Minister U Thaung Han discussed efforts to distribute electricity in the whole parts of Myanmar in 2030, topical issues on investments and cooperation in electricity and industry businesses with Russia.
