Fire broke out in Myanmar some 18,000 times during 10 years, losing more than K187 billion worth of property

Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win delivered an address at the ceremony to mark the 78th Anniversary of Myanmar Fire Brigade Day at MICC-II in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.

Fires occur every year in Myanmar, and during the 10-year period from 2014 to 2023, there were about 18,000 fires, with a total loss value of more than 187 billion and on average, there are about 1,800 fires a year in the whole country, and the loss will be more than 18 billion, said Vice-Senior General Soe Win.

The Vice-Senior General said that with global climate change, country-specific population increases and industrial technology development, fires are seen to increase. Therefore, in order to reduce the annual frequency of fires and the cost of damages caused by fire, efforts must be made to spread fire awareness and fire prevention knowledge among the public.

The firefighters were urged to constantly study modern firefighting technologies to enhance their qualification and capacity and perform fire prevention and rescue and relief measures for the people with sacrifice of life and limbs by Vice-Senior General Soe Win.
