According to the Shan State Hotel and Tourism Directorate, all hotels in the Kalaw area are fully booked for Thingyan water festival. Similarly, hotels in Taunggyi are almost full booked. During the Thingyan period, there will be a floating Thingyan in the Inlay region as well as a walking Thingyan for domestic and foreign tourists.
