Ecotourism launches at Lawkananda Wildlife Sanctuary

According to warden U Shwe Htay Aung, the Lawkananda Wildlife Sanctuary, has introduced nature-based tourism initiatives within the park, which is located in NyaungU Township, Mandalay Region,

The park offers bungalows, palm huts, and palmwood chairs with views of Mount Tantkyi and the Ayeyawady River. In addition, observation platforms are provided for birdwatching, allowing visitors to see waterfowl and wintering birds in their natural habitat.

Fauna, such as star tortoises, golden deer, muntjac, and peacocks, alongside a rich array of flora, including 90 tree species, 32 flowering plants, 160 medicinal herbs, and five types of bamboo, shelter the sanctuary.

The sanctuary spans 0.47 square kilometers between Bagan and the Ayeyawady River, established in 1995 at Thiri Pyitsaya Village.
